In 1971 David Thomas returned from London to his welsh hometown, the Vale of Glamorgan and established Jon Ian in the city centre, a boutique specialising in the best of British and European footwear brands. Working in London during the swinging sixties as Kurt Geiger's protege meant David had a wealth of experience, and flair to drawn upon whilst starting his own boutique. It was not long before Jon Ian was the go to in Cardiff for stand out footwear, and is still renowned for it today! In 1994 Esther, David's daughter, moved to Cowbridge to expand the Jon Ian brand. Having worked closely with her father since the age of 11 it was a big move, one that David was confident would work. As ever, he was right! Jon Ian Cowbridge has now been open 30 years and is a high street landmark. Esther made the jump to expand into clothing in 2019, which marked another huge success for the boutiques! Although a difficult decision was made to close our Cardiff store in 2023, our Cowbridge store continues to thrive along with our growing online presence and we look forward to welcoming even more new customers with this new chapter with Trouva!
