These bamboo chopsticks are by Oita based maker, Chikuen.
Oita, in north-east Kyushu, has a rich tradition in bamboo, with traders, makers and skill craftspeople present particularly in the environs of Beppu.
This is the centre of Chikuen’s activities too, and these chopsticks have a green ‘kasuri’ block placed above the precise bamboo tips.
They are 23cm long, and 1.5 cm wide.
