Charles and Ray Eames are among the most influential designers of the 20th century. Although best known for their furniture designs, the Eameses also made pioneering contributions to the fields of architecture, film, exhibitions, toys, and graphics. "Essential Eames: Words & Pictures" contains a selection of writings and quotes from the life of this designer couple, illustrated with images from the archive of nearly a million photographs accumulated by Charles and Ray Eames over four decades. Eames Demetrios, Director of the Eames Office, and Carla Hartman, Director of Education at the Eames Office – two of the Eameses' five grandchildren – have carefully selected the contents as editors of the book.
