Lokta paper comes from Nepal. It is made from the bark of the Daphne Papyracea. This shrub grows at an altitude of 2000 meters in the Himalayas, which is why it is also called Himalayan paper. Because the bark of the shrub keeps on growing, no new shrubs need to be planted and the Himalayas remain unaffected.
