Swiss Wristwatches: Watch Design in Old Advertisements - Gisbert Brunner & Christian Pfeiffer-Belli

First published in 1991, this is a fascinating collection of vintage watch advertisements and catalogues arranged chronologically and covering the period from the early 1900s until 1968. The illustrations are all dated, most to the exact year, although occasionally with a circa date. This is a great visual resource for those interested in the development of the wristwatch during the 20th century - it's also extremely helpful when dating watches based on their their style and design alone. In addition to advertisements and catalogues, some of the illustrations are reproduced from exhibition brochures such as the 1937 Paris World's Fair, as well as various Basel Watch Fairs. Many of the images are photographic, others are illustrations. The majority of pictures are black and white but there are a good number of colour illustrations throughout.
