In her introduction to this book Flora Soames says that it is a scrapbook to her collecting habit and a love letter to the role that her home has played in her life. The One Day Box is an embodiment of the passions that led to her becoming an interior designer.
The book is a bit like a gigantic mood board made by an interior designer; but one where there is no-one project in mind. Rather it is the collection of scraps of fabric, strips of paint colour test cards, lengths of ribbon stored after presents have been unwrapped, and other ephemera that has been kept because one day . . . one day . . . it will be useful.
Flora Soames has turned her own archive of ephemera in to an interior design career as well as a range of fabric and wallpaper designs. The book reveals some of the inspiration behind her designs but also the houses and interiors that have been influential in her life.
