A Work in Progress: A Journal is a highly personal account of the highs and lows of daily life at the world-famous and much loved restaurant, noma. Burned out and exhausted Redzepi decided to keep a journal for a year. His aim was to document the team's creative process and understand how to encourage the flow of ideas and well-being at noma.

His journal is unusually candid and witty and tells the story of struggle and determination, of friendship and teamwork.

"We all know that over the next eight months we'll do this more or less every day, and the connection will become more intimate as we follow nature's mood swings through the year. Everything will become easier: easier to cycle to work, easier to be creative. 'As a cook, you're creating a language,' says Michel Bras, the French oracle chef. If that's the case, well then, we need a vocabulary, an alphabet to build sentences and paragraphs. Ingredients are our alphabet, and the more letters we have, the more beautiful the prose."

There are a few recipes at the back of the book but they aren't really the point of the book. Redzepi writes really well and the book manages to be engaging from front to back.
