The N ° 08 is THE versatile knife.
With its alpine sheath which has a loop and a leather lace, it can be taken anywhere.
Sandvik's modified 12C27 stainless steel developed for Opinel is renowned for its sharpness and ease of maintenance.
It has a carbon content of at least 0.40% which allows a very satisfactory cutting edge to be obtained without being susceptible to corrosion.
The traditional Opinel blade is called the Yatagan blade. Its shape is inspired by a Turkish saber, with a raised point. The blade is ground according to an exclusive convex profile which guarantees the robustness of the blade and allows efficient resharpening.
Handle: Beech is the most widely used wood for the manufacture of Opinel handles. Coming from French farms, it is hard, resistant and easy to work. With a homogeneous appearance, its light color varies from yellow to pink. It is recognizable by the presence of many small dark lines. The handle is varnished to be better protected against humidity and dirt.
Invented in 1955 by Marcel Opinel, the Virobloc safety ring is fitted to all closing knives from No. 06. Cut from stainless steel, the Virobloc consists of two parts: a fixed part and a sliding part. In addition to locking the blade in the open position (safety of use), it is now possible to lock the blade in the closed position (transport safety).
Blade Length: 8.5cm.
