Leonardo da Vinci was an Italian Renaissance polymath who was interested in invention, architecture, science, and engineering. Up to now, many manuscripts left from Da Vinci have been found. Some of the them have been invented, but some were not possible at that time, thus, he left these manuscripts and hoped that people could improve them to create something better in the future. Based on the manuscripts, the DIY kits allow us to learn the parts of each machine and principles of motion.

This helical design is based on a 1480’s drawing by Leonardo da Vinci.
Operation of the rotor wings could be powered by a pilot using his arms and legs.
During takeoff, today’s helicopters use a similar vertical rotation concept.
It demonstrates a combination of natural and mechanical movements.
A mechanical spring controls rotation and vertical movement of the wings.
