Designed by Sami Rototsalainen with a model of Maija and Kristina Isola, the story behind the UNIKKO model is a rather legendary story. The extraordinary Unikko reason was originally conceived in 1964 after the founder of Marimekko, Ratia weapons, proclaimed the total ban on floral prints. Despite this, Maija Isola managed to convince weapons with this adorable reason inspired by the poppy: so the iconic Unikko motif was born. From that moment the press has become one of the most characteristic and recognizable models of Marimekko.
