The Nightingale songbird is inspired by H.C. Andersen’s famous fairy tale of the same name. The fairy tale was published in 1843 and is about a nightingale whose song enchanted the Emperor. When the Emperor receives a mechanical nightingale, he forgets about the real nightingale which then flies away. When the emperor becomes terminally ill, the nightingale returns and heals the Emperor through its beautiful song. The figurine Nightingale’s colours are inspired by the beautiful Chinese nightingale.
