They are small, delicate, and have soft curves only created by hand blowing techniques. Handmade by master artisans. Each piece is blown by skilled Japanese glassblowers. The skill required to create this two-tone glass requires years of experience. Since their beginnings in 1932, in Tokyo, the artisans at Sugahara have applied traditional Japanese design techniques to reveal and express the beauty of glass. In their modest beginning they only had one master glass blower, currently there are 40 master craftsmen. Their true success comes from the fact that the glass blowers are also their lead designers. In this way the glass blowers are inspired to push their limits and create truly modern pieces with the absolute pinnacle of craftsmanship. Their motto is: “Glass is alive” & “Conversing with glass”.
