Handwoven storage basket in rainbow triangles design. Its' fresh colours make the basket an attractive addition to a bedroom, bathroom or utility room. Handwoven in Senegal using a traditional coil weaving technique from cattail stalks and thin strips of coloured, salvaged plastic.
A network of over 100 rural Wolof women in 9 Senegalese villages are working together to create these beautiful handcrafted baskets. Using locally harvested cattail stalks (a type of local grass) and strips of colourful, salvaged plastic, the women bring supplemental income to their households by coil weaving baskets between their daily duties.
