Maranta is also known as the prayer plant, as it's leaves hang down during the daylight hours and stand up in the evening.

They are usually found on jungle floors in a damp and humid environment. They like bright but indirect or filtered light, and watering once the top 3 inches of the soil have dried out. They prefer a warm and humid spot, so mist regularly if not in a bathroom.
