The monkey’s fist knot is so named because it looks somewhat like a small bunched fist. This knot is traditionally used as a weight on a heaving line, allowing mooring lines to be hurled between ship and dock. This has now proved a great knot for home products such as a door stop.
Using 4 metres of manila rope, each doorstop is created by master craftsmen at the Historic Dockyard Chatham where rope has been made since 1618\.
