Short production paths, long lifespan: the cork oak has diverse properties that provide this special raw material for the cork bags. During the entire lifespan of the tree, approx. 100-200 kg cork can be obtained because the bark can be harvested without the tree dying off. That is probably the only tree in the world its bark for a time of 9-11 years

Cork is a natural material that is obtained from the bark of the cork oak, which mainly occurs in Mediterranean and Iberian areas. So no additional resources are required to grow cork.
Cork can be harvested by hand every six to nine years and retains the unique structure of the bark. By harvesting the bark, the oak can absorb approximately 30% more carbon and also release more oxygen.
