Girard is one of an influential band of US designers who came to fame in the 1940s and 50s. They embodied a joy of living, simple but often clever pattern making and significant craft skill. Their number included Ray and Charles Eames, Charley Harper and George Nelson. It's a very American style although heavily influenced by Europe and Japan. Girard is one of the designers where products are made by Vitra.
