This book is a mammoth illustration exercise by Britta Teckentrup given that it features an animal poem for every day of the year, and at most there are 3 poems on a double page spread. Fiona Waters is the anthologist who has compiled the poems and Britta has created a stunning visual story for every page.
Just as there are all sorts of poems there are also all sorts of animals; from the crabs on Christmas Island to migrating monarch butterflies, the humble snail, the tiny ant and the shy platypus. The poets include Seamus Heaney, Roger mcGough and Alfred Lord Tennyson but also include scores of poems and poets that you may not already be familiar with. Nosy Crow are a children's book publisher but there is something to be drawn from this book for everyone.
