This jigsaw features an image of hummingbirds that is taken from the extensive archive of the Victoria and Albert Museum. The illustration is taken from a german book called Kunstformen der Natur which was published by German zoologistand marine biologist Ernst Haeckel between 1899 and 1904.
The jigsaw has 1000 pieces and the illustration features 12 hummingbirds in total. Haeckel was an accomplished artist and illustrator and his work served as a bridge between science and art.
The box contains a large scale poster of the finished image so that you can work on the puzzle from that and use the lid and bottom section of the box to help sort the pieces of the jigsaw.
When completed the jigsaw measures 68cm x 48.5cm
