About
Syngonium podophyllum 'Pink Robusta', one of the varieties known as Arrowhead Syngonium, have a lovely soft-pink and green foliage - ideal for creating contrast when grouped with plants in a deeper shade of green.
Light: Bright but indirect
Syngonium are extremely easy to care for. They prefer bright but indirect light -a few metres away from a bright window is ideal, but keeping them in a shadier room closer to the window will work too.
Watering: Frequent
In the warmer months water when the top inch of the soil is dry, and when at least half the pot of soil has dried in the cooler months. The easiest way to check the moisture levels is by sticking your finger into the soil to the required depth.
Humidity: Moderate
Syngonium are tropical plants and therefore enjoy high levels of humidity, however most people’s homes have enough moisture in the air so a spot in a naturally humid room is not essential. Be sure to keep them away from known air dryers such as fan heaters and radiators over the cooler months. Misting the leaves weekly is recommended.
Note:
Repotting biannually in the spring is generally recommended. If kept in a plastic pot, or repotted into a pot with a drainage hole, check the see whether roots are growing from the holes as this is a sure indication that the plant needs more space. Use a general houseplant or multipurpose compost with some perlite mixed in.
