My Rock 'n' Roll Friend - Tracey Thorn
Lindy Morrison was the drummer with The Go-Betweens; 10 years Tracey Thorn's senior the two musicians developed a friendship and became confidantes and comrades.
Morrison came to be a kind of mentor to Thorn; they shared the joy and struggle of being women in a band, trying to outwit and face down a chauvinist music media. Thorn uncovers the basis of this friendship and uses it to describe women in music and how they are written out of (and sometimes back into) history.
Her book includes copies of letters that the two sent each other and also diary entries that Thorn made over the course of their friendship.
