William Morris - Anna Mason

This book draws on the huge archive held at the V&A Museum in South Kensington. Morris (1834-1896) was a pioneer of the Arts and Crafts Movement and is one of the most influential designers in British history. With his emphasis on originality, craftsmanship, and artistry, Morris helped revolutionize the late Victorian interior, and initiated changes in the way we think about how things are made, what we own, our relationship with nature, and how we live and work that continue to be relevant today.

Morris first found fame as a poet, in a life full of interests and activities that were extraordinarily wide-ranging. He was a committed socialist, prolific writer, pioneering conservationist and successful businessman and manufacturer, as well as a brilliant and original designer.

This book is published to mark the 125th anniversary of Morris's death, and is the most comprehensive and well-illustrated study available.
