Patchwork is a term that covers a broad variety of textile techniques. While we might most commonly associate it with pieces of fabric sewn together with invisible stitching - such as you might find on a traditional patchwork quilt - it also includes appliqué, reverse appliqué and visible mending techniques such as boro stitching.

This book is made up of examples of patchwork from across the globe, stitched together to form a whole. The book is arranged geographically by continent. So in the first section you can compare the patchwork of nations suchs as Great Britain, the Netherlands and Sweden before exploring the famous log cabin quilts of the USA and tose produced by Amish communities. The patchworks of Africa and the Near East  includes asafo flags from Ghana and applique hangings from Egypt.
