Claridge’s – The Cocktail Book

Obviously, in an ideal world all cocktails would be consumed in the bar at Claridges; but given that the bar at said hotel is actually relatively small and the chances of everyone being able to squeeze in there simultaneously are non existent then this book of their cocktails is the next best thing.

Claridges is a classic cocktail bar; they probably have paper cocktail parasols just in case a guest demands them, but the emphasis is definitely on the quality cocktail rather than the club 18-30 cocktail.

This book contains a huge selection of cocktail recipes as well as guides to hosting your own cocktail party and the basic equipment needed. The recipes themselves are divided as per the type of drink. The first section deals with champagne and sparkling cocktails, the next stirred and complex (eg the martini and the negroni), then short cocktails followed by long cocktails and finally low alcohol and alcohol free drinks.

There is also a guide to making cordials, and syrups for use in cocktails and a history of the 4 bars at Claridges.
