When We Were Young: Memories of Growing Up in Britain

This collection of anonymous family photographs provide a unique window into past lives. Each image, shot on colour slide film in Britain between the mid 40s and 70s provides a glimpse that is either reminiscent of times gone by or peculiarly alien depending on our own lives and childhoods. I suspect that to younger eyes the images of picnics by the side of the road and beehive hairdos at weddings might seem like a foreign land but that other images still have a universal appeal.

There are images of seaside holidays, group shots around dining tables and showing off a pet guinea pig. The background details of clothes, cars and huge (deep) television sets are a joy to pour over.

Hardback.
