Scandinavian Christmas is first and foremost about old traditions, but it can also be a tradition to buy something new. The collecting of Holmegaard’s classic Christmas Glass series is something of an annual ritual for many, they make such great collectors' items or can be filled with something delicious and given away to friends. This beautifully gift-boxed decorative schnapps bottle by Jette Frölich (renowned for her amazing decorations and paper-cuts) makes an unusual and reusable gift and marks the start of a genuine Danish Christmas. Although originally intended for schnapps, the bottle is ideal for sloe gin or whatever your preferred tipple - the side of the bottle is even marked with a calendar allowing you a tot for each day of advent. Matching dram glasses are also available in the series.

Holmegaard is Denmark's oldest and largest glassworks and has been associated with some of Scandinavia's top designers since they were established in 1825. Here at the Scandinavian Shop, we like to support some of the more established and iconic Nordic brands as well as up-and-coming designers, and Holmegaard definitely falls into the former category.
