Soft Ice Enamel Dinner Plate
Of course ‘dinner plate’ is HAY’s own description of what they envisage this plate to be used for, but that is not to say that you don’t have free rein to use it as you see fit. Seeing fit could be everything from a serving of Fuschia Dunlop’s fish fragrant aubergine, a pile of perfect basmati and some cashew nut curry cooked as per Thomasina Miers’ recipe in The Guardian or a plate of biscuits or cupcakes.
The plate is made from enamelled steel and has a marbled green and white pattern to the enamel. As the marbled enamel is all applied randomly no two plates are going to look exactly the same. All enamel is slightly more fragile than it looks and if dropped or knocked excessively the enamel may well chip. The plate will remain intact but the enamel will flake where the impact has occurred.
HAY have several other tableware pieces in this same green enamel finish: a smaller lunch plate, an oval serving plate and a salad bowl. All of them would look great alongside one another and equally would look great mixed with a white bone china piece of tableware and a linen napkin.
