Product details

Benton End Remembered. Following last years exhibitions of Cedric Morris paintings at the Garden Museum and at Philip Mould interest in his work has grown and grown. In 1940 Morris moved to Benton End in Suffolk with Arthur Lett-Haines. What they found there was a ramshackle but capacious farmhouse that had not been lived in for fifteen years. This became not only their home but also the premises for the new East Anglian School for Painting and Drawing. There was no formal teaching; students were left to work on their own and show their work to Morris and Lett-Haines for advice. This book includes reminiscences of Benton End by visitors and students as well as extracts from an autobiography and diary. They are combine to give a portrait of the place as well as the gifted and hospitable hosts. Paperback. 160 pages. Measurements:24.2cm x 21.8cm x 1.5cm
