The Pottery Garden - Arthur Parkinson

Arthur Parkinson is a young gardener who cut his teeth working for Sarah Raven at Perch Hill. On her recommendation he was then employed by Emma Bridgewater to develop a garden at her factory in Stoke on Trent. Perhaps an incongruous site for a lush garden but one where Parkinson created a colourful garden and populated it not just with flowers that could be cut and used in arrangements but also with hens and bantams.

The book gives an account of his transformation of this space in Stoke but also acts as a guide to keeping poultry. It also gives ideas for planting and a seasonal guide for which gardening jobs to get underway at which time of the year. If the stunning photography doesn't make you yearn for a garden full of pekin bantams and dahlias then . . . .
