This stoneware ceramic candleholder is designed by a design duo called Wang and Soderstrom for hay. The design partnership are interested in how digital and physical forms meet; the organic forms are developed in their studio before they are 3D printed and then moulded and cast at a ceramic factory in India. Wang and soderstrom is the design practice of designer annie wang and architect tim soderstrom, they are based in copenhagen. They like to bring out the tactile and emotional side of objects while utilising the digital techniques available to achieve this. The candleholder takes a standard sized dinner candle and comes in a smart gift box. As with all candles the advice to not leave a lit flame unattended applies here. As well as this lavender colour the candleholder is also available in yellow. Inspired by the space where digital and physical forms meet, wang and soderstroms candleholders are unique sculptural objects that serve as miniature pieces of art. The organically shaped 3D models are first developed in the designers studio, before the candleholders are 3D printed and moulded in porcelain and stoneware at a ceramic factory. Available in different designs and colours, they are ideal for displaying alone or in clusters in many different spaces and contexts.
