Alexander Girard and Charles and Ray Eames were prominent figures in postwar American design. Several of the Greeting Card motifs have been selected by Vitra in collaboration with the Girard family and the Eames Office.
Although the focus of Girard's work was textile design, he was also widely recognized for his work in graphic arts and the design of furniture, exhibition spaces, and interior architecture.
The extensive work of Charles and Ray Eames is not limited to design, architecture, exhibition space design and cinematography, but also encompasses a large number of graphic designs, mostly created by Ray Eames. They were used in the Eames Office for commercial purposes, and the designer couple used them for personal celebrations, such as the "Happy Birthday" card created by Ray for Charles' 48th birthday.
