The darumas are an amulet of Japanese Buddhist origin that represent the reward for perseverance. The legend says that you have to paint one of its eyes, while setting a goal you want to achieve in life.

When this is done, place it in a visible place so you'll be remembered of your goal regularly. When your wish has been fulfilled, all you need to do is to paint the other eye as a token of appreciation.
