Pamela Colman Smith (February 16, 1878 - September 18, 1951), was an artist, illustrator, and writer. She was recognized for illustrating the popular tarot cards known as the Waite-Smith cards, also called the Rider Waite cards or the Rider Waite Smith cards, by the occultist Arthur Edward Waite.
Undoubtedly, A. E. Waite revolutionized most of the concepts about the Tarot before him, and today the study of this subject cannot be conceived without his extraordinary contribution. This contribution consisted in presenting to those interested in the occult a new vision of the Tarot based on hermetic symbolism, and that she embodied, on the one hand, in a book, and, on the other, in the design of her famous deck. But while the Tarot that he created is today diffused and known throughout the world, the book that contained his study is, surprisingly, much more unknown. This book is included in this case, published in 1910 in England under the title of The Illustrated Key of the Tarot, together with his famous Tarot deck. Surely, this book and the deck constitute as a whole the most important work on Tarot created to date and an essential reference for anyone interested in this discipline.
