Set of 8 Patterned cards by Peggy Angus
This wallet of cards contains 8 cards all featuring pattern designs by Peggy Angus. The cards are 15 x 15 cm square and each comes with a heavy ivory diamond flap envelope. The wallet contains one card in each of eight designs : Cats; Oak Leaves; Birds and Grapes; Small Damask; Medallion; Tile; Pineapple, and Dots and Circles. They would make a very good present, or would be a very useful thing to have in your arsenal of stock cards to meet all manner of occasions.
Cambridge Imprint cards are printed in England on FSC paper of archiving quality, using vegetable oil-based inks that are friendly to the environment. Each card is printed in one or two hand-mixed inks on uncoated 90 gsm ivory stock to create a high quality matte paper with a hand-printed feel. The self-fastening wallet is also made of printed card of the same quality and there is no glue, plastic or cellophane in the packaging.
Peggy Angus was a pattern maker of the mid-twentieth century. Contemporary and friend of Eric Ravilious and Edward Bawden, independent spirit and inspired teacher, she was a painter who really found her element when she began to design patterns in the fifties, first collaborating with industry to create tiles, with which she had a great success, and then later branching out on her own with wallpapers. Her wallpapers were linocuts hand-printed in emulsion on lining paper. The few examples that survive are hidden away in private houses. Publications about her are few and it’s hard to obtain copies.
Cambridge Imprint were very pleased to collaborate with the Peggy Angus Estate in producing some of her designs at a reduced scale on these cards. They have also produced a range of printed papers that could be used as gift wrap or for craft projects.
The cards are blank inside and come with accompanying envelopes.
