Gladiator Turkeys takes its name from the Latin inscription across the top of the card: Morituri Te Salutant. This was the cry given by gladiators when they were fighting in front of the Emperor; it translates as Those who are about to die salute you. You can see why this might be relevant for the turkey . . . although they don't really have the option of saluting us.
