This book is subtitled A World of Form and Colour and is published to accompany am exhibition at the Milton Keynes Art Gallery that is the largest ever survey of Vanessa Bell's work.
Bell was a pioneering modernist and founding member of the Bloomsbury Group. The book traces her explorations into the Italian Renaissance, her encounters with the European avant-garde and her leading role in social and cultural activities such as the Omega Workshops.
The book examines the development of her landscapes, still lifes and portraits alongside her wide approach to creativity through design, furniture, ceramics and drawings.
The exhibition runs in Milton Keynes until 23 February 2025, it then moves to Charleston where it runs from 26 March to 7 September.
