Rose Uniacke - At Work

Rose Uniacke writes in the introduction to this book 'I believe that interiors matter. They can change the way we think and feel. In my design practice I want to offer my clients a sanctuary: a place that has atmosphere, in which they can think clearly.'

The pages that follow her introduction are taken up with examinations of some of the projects that her interior design practice has undertaken; from her own home in Warwick Square to other projects in St Johns Wood, Chelsea, Notting Hill and The Hamptons. All of the photographed houses have a solidity to them and are beautifully shot. While there might have been a certain amount of tidying up for the photographer they feel like spaces which the owners would want to keep to the intended vision of Uniacke because that vision works for them. Books are definitely allowed, as is artwork. There is also quite a lot of unexpected pattern - Uniacke writes of her passion for Godwin designs, Benson lights and Christopher Dresser pieces.

A great coffee table book.
