Rattle - Hippo

There's a proviso with this toy rattle which is that the outside of the packaging states that it is not suitable for children under 3 yrs of age. However . . . unless your infant child manages to crack open the casing of the rattle then the small parts that it suggests are a choking hazard will remain in place . . . and I guess that this is the same with any rattle.

There is a seam which runs along the length of the rattle which indicates that it was made in two parts and the cavity that these two parts create in the middle of the hippo contain the small parts that rattle when the hippo is shaken.

The rattle is extremely tactile and the colouring of the wood is lovely. It is a toy that is set apart from the raft of plastic tat and makes a smart mini sculpture when it is not being shaken. The eye of the hippo is pierced all the way through the toy.
