Il colore indaco è ottenuto da fonti vegetali (pianta Indigofera e vite indaco). Le palline essiccate di foglie schiacciate vengono lasciate fermentare prima di essere mescolate con una soluzione alcalina per produrre il colorante. Il panno viene ripetutamente immerso nella tintura per scurire il colore. Successivamente il tessuto viene battuto a mano per fissare il colore. Forse la forma più riconoscibile di tessuto indaco dell'Africa occidentale, questo tessuto adire oniko è stato realizzato legando strettamente il tessuto di cotone per resistere alla tintura in alcune parti. I modelli sono inconfondibili e sono attribuiti agli Yoruba della Nigeria. NB: PER PULIRE- un lavaggio a MANO molto delicato (MAI IN MACCHINA, su qualsiasi ambiente) in acqua fredda con un detersivo molto delicato funziona, ma anche in questo caso i coloranti potrebbero non essere resistenti al colore.
