This highest peak in Western Europe, was nicknamed until the 18th century the cursed mountain, so much it inspired fear in the inhabitants of the valley. Jacques Balmat and Michel Paccard answered the call and were the first to reach the summit in 1786. Since then, Mont Blanc has continued to fascinate all kinds of adventurers and numerous routes now allow you to climb it with serious preparation. Despite the 7 annual deaths recorded, there remains the area of exploits, like that of the Catalan Kílian Jornet, who climbed twice in the same day, in 2016.
